Republic gold Counterstamped Escudo ND (1849-1857) AU Details (Reverse Scratched) NGC, San Jose mint, KM84, Stickney-C431. Displaying Type VII round lion counterstamp with legend HABILITADA PO EL GOBIERNO (AU Standard) on the obverse and reverse of a Central American Republic Escudo 1848 CR-JB (cf. KM14). Somewhat glossy, with the host and counterstamp both cleanly struck, and a single very fine scratch noted to the reverse left field. Mislabeled on the holder as a Type VI countermark.
