We note that while NGC have graded no less than 32 half guineas of George III as proof, PCGS have graded none. In fact, this example offered here is the only George III half guinea of any date that PCGS has graded Prooflike (PL). In the cataloguer's view it is merely a grading policy of PCGS that differs between this example and those that have been described as Proof by NGC. In October 2020, an NGC Proof-64 graded example sold for £8,160 incl. buyer premium by a London auction house.
