ETHNOGRAPHIC: AFRICA: AE king manilla (1881g), Opitz p.214 (plate example), 24mm thick and 255mm at the widest (4.1 lbs), with flattened ends and 8-faceted surface decorated with annulets, VF, ex Charles Opitz Collection. At an equivalent of 100 manillas, the king manilla was not used in daily trade but was a store of wealth and bride price. Acquired by the consignor in August 1990.
