SASANIAN KINGDOM: Peroz, 457-484, lead unit (17 mm) (3.27g), BBA (the Court mint), G-, SNS-, standard design, as on the 3rd silver series (G-174/176), extremely rare in lead, 8 examples now on CoinArchives, none in the standard publications, two small creases on obverse (probably from lead degeneration), VF, RR. Lead coins were most frequent during the reigns of Varhran IV through Varhran V (388-438), with limited editions under Yazdigerd II and the last confirmed lead coins under Peroz.
