MEXICO: Republic, ¼ real (9.53g), ND (ca. late 1800s?), Rulau-Nay 10, countermark on slick host, eagle with outstretched wings and snake in mouth within recessed outline with B - P over respective wings and rosette in recessed outline over eagle's head, obverse spot, crude with some rim nicks, on brass ¼ real module, unlisted in Grove, Fine to VF, RR. Rulau (2000) stated that only 21 pieces were known, with only 10 outside museums. Most of the known pieces were in the Smithsonian or the ANS Collections.
