The Uvedale Collection | AU Details | Charles II (1660-1685), Royal African Company, Two-Guineas, 1664 Elephant, first laureate head right, pointed truncation, company symbol below, rev. crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, five strings to harp, edge straight milled, 16.69g, 6h (Stratos 152; EGC 204; Schneider II, 430; MCE 32; Spink 3334), smoothing to cheek and surrounding hair curls to mask metal stresses, the fields bright but residually lustrous, ultimately struck details very fine, an appreciable example of the first Two-Guinea coin thus, in NGC holder, graded AU Details ~ Obverse Repaired (Cert. #6135268-013).
