Menadier, Julius. SCHAUMÜNZEN DES HAUSES HOHENZOLLERN. Berlin: Königliche Museen zu Berlin, 1901. Folio [42 by 32.5 cm], contemporary cloth-backed mottled boards, gilt. (12), 183, (1) pages; text illustrations; 90 very fine plates of medals, some printed in color. Occasional annotations throughout in pencil in the hand of Kurt Regling. Binding rebacked and worn at extremities. Very good. A superbly illustrated work of the highest importance, tracing the history of the House of Hohenzollern from the tenth century to the turn of the twentieth. Julius Menadier (1854–1939) was, with Heinrich Dressel, the director of the Münzkabinett Berlin at the time of publication. The copy offered in our recent sale of the Richard Margolis Library was the first copy we had handled since 1988. Clain-Stefanelli 14627*. Grierson 263.
