Parts 5–8 and 10–12 of this extraordinary sale, lacking only Part 9 (medals of Gonzaga) for completion of the medieval and modern offerings. One of the classic series of numismatic auctions of the 20th century. Part V focuses on early and later medieval issues and is Clain-Stefanelli 5365, Grierson 273, and Spring 651 [also listed under "Most important sales of coins of the barbarian migrations"]. Part VI covers Italian coins from the 13th to the 18th centuries and is Clain-Stefanelli 10245*. The seventh and eighth sales (as well as the ninth, not here present) never took place; the catalogues are Clain-Stefanelli 10294*. Part X covers Savoy and the coins of modern Italy and is Clain-Stefanelli 10410-the copy in this set is No. 10 of fifty copies signed by Alessandro Magnaguti for presentation. Part XI, on Papal coins and medals, is Clain-Stefanelli 10392. Part XII covers late medieval and early modern European coins and medals and is Clain-Stefanelli 8002. Grierson 273–274.
