Hand-priced and named through lot 585, with annotations throughout. Five catalogues, bound in one volume. Crown 4to, contemporary green cloth, gilt; original printed paper covers mostly bound in. Binding worn; very good or so. Includes a number of important sales. The Bunbury catalogue is Babelon 231, Clain-Stefanelli 1950, Grierson 281 and Spring 762. The second Carfrae sale included his Roman bronze coins, the Greek coins having been sold in 1894 (see above), and the tinted plates are exceptional: Grierson 281, Spring 780. The Bizot sale was especially notable for Roman portraiture: Clain-Stefanelli 4073, Grierson 280, Spring 783. The Mackerell plates are exceptional: Clain-Stefanelli 4078, Grierson 298, Spring 789. The astronomer of the final catalogue was Frank W. McClean, father of John Robinson McClean: Clain-Stefanelli 3655, Grierson 295, Spring 790. Ex E.J. Seltman Library, with his bid card tipped into the Mackerell catalogue.
