A Köhne Miscellany
Köhne, Bernard von. BOUND VOLUME OF ARTICLES ON ANCIENT COINS. Includes: "Observations on Some Unedited Coins, Principally of Asia Minor," by Samuel Birch (with clipped inscription from the author to B. von Köhne), "Drachms of Aristarchos, Dynast of Colchis," "Drachms d'Aristarque, roi de Colchide," "Statère d'or d'Alexandre Sévère," "Monnaie de fer," "Le temple de Jupiter Capitolin, d'après les médailles," and "Monnaies byzantines: supplément a l'ouvrage de Sabatier" (with clipped inscription from the author to Hermann Dannenberg). Seven pieces total (1844–1881), bound in one volume. 8vo, contemporary brown cloth-backed mottled boards, gilt. Near fine. Includes offprints or extracts of articles originally published in the Numismatic Chronicle and the Revue belge de numismatique. Baron Bernard von Koehne (1817–1886) was the publisher of the Zeitschrift für Münz-, Siegel- und Wappenkunde (1841–1846 and 1859–1862), which was followed more successfully by the Berliner Blätter für Münz-, Siegel- und Wappenkunde beginning in 1862. Its cessation in 1873 provided Dr. Alfred von Sallet with the impetus to establish the Zeitschrift für Numismatik the following year in order to fill the void resulting from its absence. Ex Dr. Kurt Regling Library, with his bookplate.
