Charles I (1625-49), silver Crown, Tower Mint, type IIIb, armoured King on horseback left with raised sword and flowing sash, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding both sides, initial mark portcullis both sides (1633-34), .CAROLVS. D; G; MAG; BRI; FRA; ET. HI; REX.:., rev. oval quartered shield of arms, the initial mark crown struck over bell, .+ CHRISTO. AVSPICE. REGNO +, 29.86g (Brooker 253; Cooper dies XIV/XVIII; Francis 24; N.2195; S.2759). Has contemporary tooling in the fields both sides which has evenly toned with the coin over the centuries, otherwise good very fine and rare.

The abbreviated obverse legend translates as "Charles, by the Grace of God, King of Great Britain, France and Ireland." and on the reverse "I reign under the auspice of Christ."
