William IV (1830-37), gold Sovereign, 1837, second bare head right, W.W. incuse on truncation, GULIELMUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F: D:, toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms in frame, ANNO 1837 below, 8.00g (Bentley 32; Marsh 21; S.3829B). Some light rub to highpoints, bagmarks on obverse, about extremely fine with residual lustre.

The calendar year mintage of Sovereigns for 1837 totals 1,172,984.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "William IV by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith," and on the reverse "In the year 1837."
