*ex A. H. Baldwin & Sons, auction 35, 13-15 October 2003 (lot 2177).
It has long been recorded that the ship on the medal's reverse was Hood's flagship, the 3-decker, 100 gun HMS Queen Charlotte, but Küchler actually depicted what must have been the most exciting moment of the 3 day battle and certainly the most pictorial.
