(t) CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. Banque Industrielle De Chine. 500 Dollars, ND (1914-18). P-Unlisted. Front Specimen. PMG Choice Uncirculated 63.
Printed by BWC. With specimen perforation. Without serial numbers or place of issue. Uniface. This scarce design is one which is likely missing from even advanced collections as it seldom will appear in any form at public auction. We sold a similar note a little over a decade ago, with no other examples sold by us in our lengthy auction history which is a testament to the scarcity of this design. The note depicts Chinzes at left and right guarding "500" counters. Interestingly, the guilloches surrounding the counters are different at left and right (most creators would have cut corners making the designs similar), so the engraver spared no expense in creating this masterpiece. A multicolored design is seen emanating from the center, offering exceptional eye appeal and art-like detail. The note is truly a work of art, displaying excellent craftsmanship from well over a century ago. We expect this lot to draw spirited bidding and we would not be surprised if our high estimate is met or exceeded.

Estimate: $5000 - $7000
