(t) CHINA--FOREIGN BANKS. International Banking Corporation. 50 Dollars, 1917. P-S416Ds. Specimen. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.
(S/M#M10). Peking. Printed by ABNC. This is the only 1917 dated note of the International Banking Corporation. This is a true rarity and above and beyond the nicest we have handled. Perched eagle at center with globes at left and right. Olive green and dark purple & blue guilloches flank the central design at both ends. The jet black ink of the primary design on the face stands out in great detail and pops well on bright paper. The reverse displays the same eagle design as found on the front, however the back is printed in dark purple ink. "50" counters are at left and right, with intricate lathe work comprising the surrounding designs. The floral design at top encasing the central vignette is reminiscent of motifs found on the Grand Staircase of the R.M.S. Titanic. Exceptional beauty and detail stands out on this piece. PMG comments "Selvage Included." PMG Pop 1/None Finer
Estimate: $4000 - $5000
