KM-Not listed; Basso-56; PNM#6-Not listed; PNM#16-261; PNM#21-VIII-81; Cacho-IX-CS-075; Gil-5-3-2. Type VI countermark; crowned Y.II. within circular indent. Issued by decree of 20 December 1834, suppressed 31 March 1837 (By Decree of 1 February 1836). Countermark applied to the obverse of a 1825-Mo JM Mexico Republic 8 Reales. A RARE early date from this mint, we have only three documented examples with two different crown varieties. The countermark is boldly applied to a moderately worn host displaying mottled gray patina with areas of richer coloration amongst the devices. This pleasing survivor is sure to catch the attention of advanced collectors seeking seldom encountered host dates.
