(t) CHINA. Dollar, ND (1927). PCGS MS-63.
L&M-49; K-608; KM-Y-318a. "Hainan" variety. This attractive survivor exhibits bold legends and satiny surfaces displaying lovely pervasive sunset tone with areas of dusky hued patina near parts of the edge. This variety possesses subtle, but distinct characteristics that distinguish it from others of this type. Most notably are the slightly rough surface texture and the legends are higher in relief, while the wreath is weak. Though this is one of the more abundant varieties, it is interesting. This wholly original looking example boasts great eye appeal and would make a nice addition to many collections. A piece where the designated grade does not reflect the quality.
Estimate: $500 - $700
