CHINA. Dollar, Year 3 (1914). PCGS MS-63+.
L&M-63; K-646; KM-Y-329; cf. WS-0174-1 (for overall type). Doubled eye variety. An enticing variant featuring clear doubling on not just the eye of Yuan Shih-kai, but also in his nose and at the base of a few characters on the obverse, such as "nien," "hua," and "chung." Lustrous and brilliant, with some burnished toning at the peripheries. We note that a PCGS-graded MS-65+ of this same variety sold for $18,000 in our April 2021 HK auction.
