(t) CHINA. Dollar, Year 3 (1914). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details.
L&M-63D; K-648; KM-Y-329. Kansu variety. Boldly struck with crisp devices, this crudely manufactured piece exhibits interesting characteristics. The obverse shows heavy circular die brushing lines in a counterclockwise motion indicated by the direction of the lines coming of the legend with undulating surfaces in the open areas. While the reverse shows signs of die rust throughout with little evidence of upkeep. This mostly bright piece does exhibit signs of a past light cleaning, though interestingly enough is hardly a distraction given the nature of this crude issue. Despite its shortcomings a presentable piece with nice details that would make a great addition for the intermediate collector looking to expand their numismatic holdings.
Estimate: $400 - $600
