(t) CHINA. Dollar, Year 9 (1920). PCGS MS-62.
L&M-77; K-666; KM-Y-329.6; WS-0181-1. Fine hair variety. Quite radiant and brilliant, this SCARCE variant poses the question of possibly being a later issue related to the "Hainan type" (WS-0181-8). Though this type features more detailed hair than the "mushier" appearing Hainan issues, the reverses bear uncanny similarities--namely in the non-bisected middle leaf to the upper left and the flat (rather than slightly up-tipped) terminal stroke on "yuan." The epaulet as well displays a slightly different configuration than the "regular issue" dollar for this year.
Estimate: $1500 - $2000
