CHINA. Silver 50 Cents Pattern, Year 25 (1936). San Francisco Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-63+.
L&M-116; K-633; KM-Pn170; WS-0155; Shih-D3-27; cf. Shanghai Museum/Mr. Shi Jiagan's Coll.-p. 136, 626-7. Reeded edge. Composition: 77% silver, 23% copper. Obverse: bust of Sun Yat-sen left; date of the Republic above; all within circular meander pattern; Reverse: Ancient spade money piece; denomination across field; all within circular meander pattern. Another highly choice example of this VERY RARE minor pattern, presenting incredible mirrored brilliance and just a hint of light, burnished toning. This specimen varies ever so slightly from the previous lot in that its composition is slightly less with respect to silver. Nevertheless a great chance for a type that is hardly ever available, and a great companion piece to the previous lot given the aforementioned difference in fineness.
From the Family of H.H. Kung (Kong Xiangxi).
Estimate: $15000 - $25000
