Obverse: Empress Xiao Quan Cheng with outer interwoven geometric pattern; Reverse: Peacock with spread plumage in center and "The First Year of Tao-Kwang" in Chinese characters around the ornamental legends. Nearly as-made quality, this stunning issue displays gleaming fields with the addition of eye-catching multicolored tone around the edges on both sides. The single finest graded of the issue at PCGS and the perfect compliment to the Emperor Tao-Kwang Dollar in this sale (both Dollars last appeared publicly in 1991 as part of the Irving Goodman Collection - that piece was lot 1290, while this piece was lot 1291).
