CHINA. Chang Hsun Silver Medal, Year 1 (1912). PCGS MS-62.
L&M-941; KMX-528. Reeded Edge. Obverse: 3/4 facing bust of General Chang Hsun in military uniform; "Giorgi" signature at lower right; Reverse: Crossed flags with Chinese characters above. A charming medal, struck with second class dies (L&M-939) that have had the lower characters on the reverse carefully effaced post-striking as part of the manufacturing process. A choice example of this RARE medal that showcases green, blue and gold toning around the edges on both sides. Extremely desirable as a type and even more so with the important Goodman pedigree and L&M plate coin status.
From the Stephen K. Scher Collection.
Ex: Irving Goodman Collection (Superior 6/1991) Lot # 1488.
Illustrated Catalogue of Chinese Gold & Silver Coins (L&M) Plate Coin.
Estimate: $5000 - $10000
