(t) CHINA. Fukien. 20 Cents, Year 21 (1932). PCGS AU-58.
L&M-854; K-717; KM-Y-391; WS-1066. Commemorative of the Canton martyrs. Pleasingly original with amber-russet peripheral toning and lustrous champagne centers. The obverse depicts the Mausoleum of the 72 Martyrs, youths and intellectuals who sacrificed themselves during a failed uprising against the Qing regime in Canton. It is topped with a statue of Liberty modeled after the sculpture in New York harbor. Quite an undervalued commemorative given its unique historical significance.
Estimate: $700 - $1000
