(t) CHINA. Hupeh. Mint Error -- Double Struck -- 10 Cash, ND (1902-05). NGC MS-63 Brown.
CL-HP.14; KM-Y-122.3; CCC-93. Water Dragon variety, with claw inside whiskers. This beautifully preserved survivor displays lovely richly colored silky surfaces. A very attractive combination of much original mint red amongst the devices with smooth chocolate brown patina on the high points and exposed areas. All complemented by a blue iridescent sheen that pops out when rotated in the light. Furthermore, this high-grade copper issue was struck twice, the second about 95% off-center only displaying a small portion of the legend "H PRO" on the obverse and the tops of the denomination on the reverse. An intriguing piece sure to add depth the next collection it enters.
Estimate: $700 - $1000
