(t) CHINA. Kirin. 7 Mace 2 Candareens (Dollar), CD (1905). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, EF Details.
L&M-557; K-513; KM-Y-183a.3; WS-0493. Variety with dotted "sheng" and "kuang," and no dot within Manchu script. This handsome survivor displays bold central design features with somewhat softly struck legends and even wear on the high points. Evidence of a past cleaning, now subdued by very attractive rich mottled multicolored patina. The obverse is more of a dove gray with brighter coloration on the high points, splashes of tan patina amongst the devices and hints of iridescent tone in the peripheries. The reverse displays a thin veneer of champagne tone in the center that transitions to sunset and dusky hued patina near the edges. Despite its shortcomings this lovely example boasts good eye appeal and is very attractive sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
Estimate: $1200 - $1600
