CHINA. Dollar, Year 9 (1920). PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details.
L&M-77; K-666; KM-Y-329.6. This piece displays a highly unusual and RARE contemporary paper chopmark. An embossed red base is layered with gilt to depict a stylized version of the character "shou" (壽), meaning longevity, surrounded by a Greek border and two concentric circles. The paper is not perfectly even across the obverse, with a slim crescent of the coin's surface visible. Though the host Yuan Shih-kai dollar is quite common in this state of preservation, full paper chopmarks with the present level of craftsmanship and detail are almost never encountered on any type of coinage.
From the Family of H.H. Kung (Kong Xiangxi).
Estimate: $300 - $500
