KM-2; K-872; Hsu-38. A well struck coin with grayish-blue toning and a few light marks.

According to Kann, the Kiau Chau 5 and 10 Cents entered circulation in October 1909. Although this issue was met with acceptance, it remained short lived. The German involvement in World War I found the port of Kiau Chau under British and Japanese siege on August 27, 1914, and ended on November 7 with Kiau Chau remaining under Japanese control until returned to China in 1922.
