KM-84; Basso-55; PNM#6-69; PNM#16-158; PNM#21-VI-120; Cacho-VIII-CS-015; Gil-5-4-1-C. Type V Countermark, crowned F.7.0 within circular indent. Issued by decree of 2 October 1832, commencing 5 October 1832 until 20 December 1834. Countermark applied to the obverse of a 1831-CUZCO G Peru Republic 8 Reales. One of the more abundant dates from this popular mint, we have nine documented examples. The countermark is deeply impressed with good definition on wholesome and moderately worn host. Close inspection reveals light tasteful smoothing in the open fields accounting for the detail's designation, now slightly subdued by the attractive mottled patination. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of this sought-after mint sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
