PONTOS. Amisos. Time of Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 85-65 BC. (Bronze, 20 mm, 8.71 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΑΜΙΣΟΥ Cista mystica draped with a panther skin and a filleted thyrsos leaning against it; in fields left and right, monograms. HGC 7, 243. RG 4. SNG BM Black Sea 1204. Dark brown patina with sandy highlights. Very fine.
