RPC 5178.5 Online (this coin). Köln 97. Dattari (Savio) 161. K&G 12.67. Emmett 96.10. Sightly rough and obverse struck slightly off-centre, otherwise, about very fine.

Lacroix (1909-2016) was recognized for his articles and various books on Greek history, numismatics, and iconography. He served as professor of Greek archaeology and art history at the University of Liége for over 25 years. He was well-known for his influential work 'Les reproductions de statues sur les monnaies grecques: la statuaire archaique et classique' (Liége, 1949). When he died in 2016, he was not only the oldest living numismatist, but he was also the oldest numismatist in history!!!
