MONETA, around solid inner circle containing cross pattée with wedges in angles, 1.16g (S.877; N.211;
BMC 5; Naismith C33.1g; SCBI 2 [Hunterian], 387 for reverse). Handsome grey cabinet toning, slightly
darker around the periphery with underlying lustre situated nearer the centre. Portrait consistently well detailed
in the high points, strong in the King's expression and to the lower drapery bars or tunic, legends legible, few
unobtrusive nicks. Reverse, excellent rendition of the moneyers name with a well struck cross and wedges, grey
tone with underlying amber mint brilliance. Some slight edge loss in the northern sphere of coin, seen often on the
type. Good very fine, rare. Fetching. Accompanied by an old dealers ticket.
