Fine, with deep, handsome and even cabinet tone. £750‑1,000
From a German collection, 1890s.
A fantastic piece with the Elector of Saxony mounted atop his horse, sword in hand. Johann Georg II was a capable
statesman who successfully positioned Saxony with influential powers of Europe of the time – France and Austria.
He was passionate about the arts and this Double Taler is a great example of a sizable commemorative coin on
which the composition is executed with superb precision.
