For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in command of an observation party which took
part in the advance. He organised and assisted in keeping open communication with total disregard for
his personal safety. On two occasions he went through heavy barrage to collect information from the
infantry. These reports were of the greatest value.
Sold with copy photo graph of Herbert in uniform and a copy photograph of Herbert with ihis two
brothers, one Royal Navy one a Pilot in the RFC/RAF. Military Cross in box of issue. Sold with copy
Medal Index card and medal rolls, worthy of further research.
