awarded to Angus Alexander Macdonald Esq., OBE, unnamed as issued in Garrard & Co Ltd. Case of
Issue, very fi ne. £900-£1,000
Sold with Original C.I.E. Warrant dated the 1st of January 1946.
Angus Alexander Macdonald was born on the 12th of November 1904 at Ardrishaig. He att ended
Logierait Public School, Pert Academy and Edinburgh Academy. He secured 12th place in the Indian
Civil Service Exams out of 400 hundred candidates. He was an Honours Graduate from Edinburgh
University and went up to Oxford University, Oriel College, for a year's special training for his posting
to India., He studied the Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Indian Evidence Act,
Indian History, Urdu, Panjabi and Hindu and Mohammedan Law. His appointment to India was dated
the 12th of October 1928. The lett er said – "Sir, I am directed to inform you that you have been posted
to Multan in the Province of the Punjab and you should proceed direct to this station on your arrival
in India."
Sold with a book, "Logierait MacDonald's" by Angus Macdonald giving the full history of the family
and the entire career of Angus, known as AA, the original Warrant for the CIE, , original newspaper
cutt ings, lett ers , marriage and death certifi cates and an original portrait photograph. A most
comprehensive archive.
