A China war Medal 1900, one clasp Relief of Pekin, awarded to Ordinary Seaman, James Barrett
H.M.S. Aurora, (J. Barrett . Ord. H.M.S. Aurora:), lightly toned very fi ne. £340-£400
James Barrett was born on the 7th of August 1880 in Fermoy, Cork, he joined the Royal Navy on the 7th
of August 1898, his 18th birthday, stating that his trade was a labourer in a Saw Mill. He served from
1898 until 1910 when he re-engaged to complete 22 year and served on 25 ships until he was discharged
on the 3rd of November 1920.during the Great war he served abord H.M.S. Duke of Edinburgh from June
1915 to August 1918 as an Able Seaman. Edinburgh was present at the Batt le of Jutland and AB Barrett
is entitled to a 1914-15 Star Trio,
