Eadred (946-955), Penny, Portrait type, Norwich mint, moneyer Manne, crowned bust right extending
to bottom of the coin, inner linear circle connecting in with the drapery bars, legends surrounds
+EΛDRED REX. Rev, small cross pattée within inner linear circle, legend reads MΛNNE IIOR‐P, 1.30g,
(S.1116; N.715; SCBI 9 [Ashmolean], 377). Lightly toned, with a fully centred strike, portrait and legends clear,
slight porosity. Reverse, bold with some light surface markings. Classed as extremely rare in North p142, with the
mint signature added into the reverse legend inscriptions. Very fine, reverse better, extremely rare. Seldom seen in
the open market.
