Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Victoria Cross, which was created by Royal Warrant on 29 January 1856. The Victoria Cross is the highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy, awarded to those having shown extraordinary bravery, often at the cost of their own lives. Two coins were struck to mark the occassion, this one depicting the acts of persons awarded with the medal and another one commemorating the award itself.
