Anglo-Saxon England, Secondary Series (710-760), Sceat, Series J, type 36 variety, crude diademed bust right, upper lip prominent, vestigial wreath ties behind, long cross pommée before in hand, rev. two birds right, one in foreground facing saltire cross pommée, 0.98g, 90° (SL 20-25 plate coin; SCBI 69, 403 this coin; T&S pp. 266-74, 267-71; Gannon 48, no. 170, 65, 174, 184, no. 18, Figs. 2.36, 5.21a; North 134; Spink 802D), a wonderful example of this crude series, lightly toned, almost extremely fine, extremely rare.
