Egypt Egyptian Government 5 Piastres 27.5.1917 Pick 158 PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Small change notes were issued in Egypt during World War I because their large silver coins were being hoarded as the price of metal rose. So it was this sort of note infused into circulation that facilitated commerce in lieu of silver coins. This type is seldom seen today as it is most often described as an unissued variety. This is a beautiful example of a rare type. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/egypt-egyptian-government-5-piastres-2751917-pick-158-pmg-choice-uncirculated-64/a/4033-28179.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchivesCurrency-WorldPaperMoney-4033-10232021 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
