Mozambique Banco Nacional Ultramarino 1000 Escudos 27.3.1947 Pick 99b PMG Extremely Fine 40. As the highest denomination of the series, this note had a small print total and impressive purchasing power. In issued form, this is a rare note. It could be perhaps one of Africa's most underrated types. This note is the second finest of only five examples graded in the PMG Population Report. Neighboring East Africa and Southern Rhodesia notes feature portraits of British Royalty, hence their popularity and market values. Meanwhile, this note from neighboring Mozambique is rarer than most East Africa and South Rhodesia issues, but remains a sleeper hit. There is only upward potential for this beautiful and very rare banknote. Minor edge repairs are mentioned for accuracy.
