Panama Banco Central de Emision 10 Balboas 1941 Pick 24a PMG About Uncirculated 55. High denomination banknotes from Panama's 1941 series are extremely scarce and very desirable, especially in issued form. This high grade 10 Balboas is one of only a few extant, and is bettered by only two examples in the PMG Population Report. Six million Balboas were printed by the Hamilton Banknote Company in a variety of denominations. Within one week of issue, nearly of half the six million Balboas were issued, but that was abruptly halted after a military coup instituted a new president in Panama. All non-issued notes were destroyed, and within ten years, the vast majority of the issued notes were redeemed. Only brief circulation and mild toning from storage are noted on this famous rarity.
