Panama Banco Central de Emision 20 Balboas 1941 Pick 25a PMG About Uncirculated 53. Ticking all the right boxes, this outstanding issued banknote is the highest denomination of one of the most famous of all note series. The print totals were small, and legal circulation of this note lasted only seven days. A military coup in Panama and the associated regime change closed the Banco Central de Emision and had all non-issued banknotes destroyed. The balance of notes that had been issued were redeemed in a nationwide campaign that worked with much success. Interestingly, this lightly circulated note has been stamped cancelled by a bank, but thankfully, it was then saved for posterity. Additionally, this note is serial number 66, which indicates that it was from the first pack of issued notes. The minor stains mentioned on the back of the third party holder are due to storage. At the time of grading, this is the single finest graded example in the PMG Population Report, of only eight notes graded to date. Not only is this a note with the highest degree of rarity, coupled with a low serial number and historical significance, this is the first we have offered in issued form. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/panama-banco-central-de-emision-20-balboas-1941-pick-25a-pmg-about-uncirculated-53/a/4033-28407.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchivesCurrency-WorldPaperMoney-4033-10232021 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
