Serbia Chartered National Bank 50 Dinara (srebru) 1914 Pick 13 PMG Very Fine 20. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia following the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914, which began World War I. From 1914-18, various circulating notes were overprinted with city stamps, making them local issues. This 50 Dinara was the only denomination issued during the war years. This note is not overprinted, and only has standard circulation and some minor tape repairs. Printed by the Bank of France, this note was easily susceptible to wear and tear, due to its delicate and thin paper. This is only the second example we have offered of this very rare type. Currently, this note is bettered by only two examples in the PMG Population Report. This War-era note is rare in any grade. https://currency.ha.com/itm/world-currency/serbia-chartered-national-bank-50-dinara-srebru-1914-pick-13-pmg-very-fine-20/a/4033-28467.s?type=DA-DMC-CoinArchivesCurrency-WorldPaperMoney-4033-10232021 HID08706262019 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
