Julius Caesar. AR Denarius, c. 44 BC. Obv. CAESAR IMPER. Laureate head right. Rev. M. METTIVS. Venus leaning on shield on globe left, holding Victory, before, B. Cr. 480/17. AR. 3.46 g. 16.50 mm. RR. Very rare. Superb portrait, perfectly centred on a regular compact flan. Scratches (Damnatio?) on obverse, otherwise good VF.
