FRANCE. England Breaks Treaty of Amiens Bronze Medal, 1803. Paris Mint. NGC MS-64 Brown.
Bramsen-271; Julius-1167; Zeitz-27. Diameter: 41mm. By Jeuffroy. Obverse: British lioness destroys treaty; Reverse: Winged Victory rides White Horse of Hanover; Edge: Plain. The typical die flaws at 11 o'clock on the obverse are evident, creating waves across the upper obverse field. Glossy reddish-brown surfaces show little in terms of contact marks or spots. A highly interesting medal due to its historical ties to Napoleonic military conquest, with exquisitely engraved vignettes on obverse and reverse that strongly juxtapose one another.
Estimate: $100 - $200
