Diameter: 35mm Octagonal shaped. Obverse: Coat-of-arms of Dunkirk: Upper part of armored knight, wielding scimitar and holding up shield, with the bottom part of a merfolk; all within wreath composed of garlanded oak and laurel branches; Reverse: Legend and date in six lines relating to the bank's establishment; all within garlanded laurel wreath. Edge: [cornucopia] ARGENT. Sharply struck and most attractively toned, this octagonal shaped issue presents some shimmering luster emanating from the protected areas and was issued during a period of rapid growth within the banking industry in France during the middle third of the 19th century.
