Obverse: LA LIBERTE OU LA MORT (liberty or death), 92 (emblematic of the French Revolution, 1792) within radiant wreath; Reverse: LA LIBERTE ET LA MORT (liberty and death), 48 (emblematic of the 1848 Revolution) within triangle of bones being hit by fireballs. Edge: Plain. Highly brilliant and dazzling, this reddish-brown example offers violet hints and an alluring overall nature. A SCARCE and interesting, and rather morbid, stereotyping of contemporary events in 1848/9, showing the fight was much more fraught than the first time around.
