FRANCE. Constituent Assembly Uniface White Metal Medal, 1848. PCGS AU-55.
cf. British Museum-2003,0332.2. Diameter: 73mm. By Vivier & Guerand. Obverse: Marianne, wearing Phrygian cap and resting hand upon fasces, presenting laurel wreath to civic deity to left; edifice with pillars and ASSEMBLEE / CONSTITUANTE in entablature in background; Reverse: Blank. A fairly RARE and interesting piece from a period of great turbulence in France, this specimen offers a great design on a rather large scale. Though listed on the holder as white metal, it is quite likely instead made of lead, as is the case with example in the British Museum.
Estimate: $200 - $300
