ITALY. Italy - Ottoman Empire - Turkey. Italo-Turkish Silver Award Medal of Merit, 1912. EXTREMELY FINE.
Barac-Unlisted. Diameter: 40mm; Weight: 31.66 gms. Engraved and awarded to Giuseppe Bortoluz. Obverse: Female personification of Italy seated left, resting hand beside sword and lifting laurel wreath over Italian ships approaching in the background; star above; Reverse: NVLLO TIMORE VICTORIA (victory with no fear) / DARDANELLI 18-19 LVGLIO 1912, "A / GIUSEPPE / BORTOLUZ" engraved in three lines within wreath. Edge: Plain, though loop attached at the top. Mostly steely gray, with some darker amber toning. A VERY RARE and extremely interesting memento from this brief naval engagement that was an Italian victory and a precursor to World War I just two years later.
